Press Day Celebration 2023 plus Spelling Bee words used

The Press Club of Bravery International School, had their Press Day celebration, to mark the end of the second term session. It was a fun filled event as the competitors went head to head in spelling various words, to challenge for the winner of a cash prize of #1000.

The contestants in no order:

  • Okafor Chinenye
  • Johnson Marvelous
  • Cletus Nora
  • Nwadiozor Benita
  • Emesiani Onyinyechi and
  • Emesiani Favour

At the end of the Spelling Bee competition, the winner was announced.

1st Position: Okafor Chinenye

2nd Position: Emesiani Onyinyechi

3rd Position: Johnson Marvelous

The broad and heavyweight English words which were spent among 6 contestants were:

  1. Vacuum (an empty space)
  2. Onomatopoeia ( in literature, using words that imitate the sound they denote)
  3. Susurration (a whispering sound, or to murmur  )
  4. Flabbergasted ( astonishment and surprise)
  5. Mississippi (The Mississippi is the second-longest river in the United States)
  6. Idiosyncracy (a strange or unusual habit, way of behaving, or feature that someone or something has)
  7. Unflappable      (not easily perturbed, excited, or upset)
  8. Inquisitive (to inquire about something, asking many questions)
  9. Jittery (nervous or unable to relax, afraid)
  10. Extraneous (not relating to a particular matter or situation being considered)
  11. Histrionic ( about acting or actors)
  12. Chihuahua ( a small looking dog)
  13. Quiescent (act of being quiet)
  14. Dubious (uncertainty or doubt)
  15. Liquefy (make or become liquid)
  16. Liquor (an achoholic drink)
  17. Ingenious (a clever person)
  18. Playwright (a person who writes plays)
  19. Sacrilegious (an act of) treating something holy or important without respect)
  20. Coordinates ( like that of x and y)
  21. Exaggerate ( to make something better, or worse than it really is.
  22. Abscond ( to run away or escape or leave a place)
  23. Moisture (water in vapour form)
  24. Pretentious (to pretend)
  25. Pseudo (not genuine)
  26. Physique (relating to a person’s body structure, how one looks)
  27. Maneuver (to use tricks or other special skills to do something or achieve something)
  28. Entrepreneur ( a business owner)
  29. Mischievous (evil minded, bad)
  30. Exacerbate (make something worst)
  31. Pneumonia (sickness)
  32. Surveillance (making observations)
  33. Resuscitate (revive someone)
  34. Bureaucracy ( a system of government in which important decisions are taken by state officials rather than by elected representatives )
  35. Vengeance (a desire for revenge )
  36. Conscious ( Being aware of what is happening around you)
  37. Embezzlement ( theft usually related to money )
  38. Fallacious (tending to deceive or mislead)
  39. Innocuous ( Not harmful or offensive)
  40. Sergeant (any rank in a force,, Police , Army, etc)
  41. Jamboree (a large celebration or party full of enjoyment)
  42. Psychiatrist (a doctor who treats or cares for mentally ill patients)
